Below is one of our friends, Tom,  who spent 22  years making our lives more fun. Sadly, our beloved Tommy passed away in 2008.  He is buried under the trees in  his front yard. He was followed in death shortly by his twin brother, Tony, who is buried next to Tom and an elderly "Aunt", Aunt Jackie, and replaced, by mother nature, with a homeless mom and a flock of playful kittens who have brought joy, mess making, affection and devotion into our lives..

Tom was a former Late Model "Crew Chief", garage buddy and yard guardian, who retired at cat age 140.

My Lagniappe Lists

I have a bunch with more coming on all the time. What are they? In the "old days" (of America), when  people often lived far from the only stores, when they made the journey to shop, the merchant, happy to see them and happy for their large purchases, would give them a little gift, a way of saying "Thank you".  Sometimes it was enough cloth for the lady of the house to make a new dress, sometimes it was a toy for a child.  In New Orleans where the habit caught on big time, it was the thirteenth rose or thirteenth donut in a dozen. And it bore the name "Lagniappe" (Lan-yap) meaning "A little something extra".

Today, my lagniappe is one additional item to every top ten list...an eleventh item.

LAGNIAPPE LIST NO 1:

Good reasons for ladies who want to lose weight to lose weight

 

  1. You’ll feel better about yourself
  2. You can wear those cute little fashions that are more stylish than what is usually offered to you.
  3. You’ll have more energy. If you don’t think so, pick up a heavy weight and carry it awhile. Then put it down. Now, isn’t that a relief?
  4. Maintaining the same weight all the time is beneficial to your body. The ups and downs of “yo yo” dieting can be harmful to your heart and other organs..
  5. Shopping for new clothes isn’t just easier, it’s more fun. The selection is better for those teeny-tiny girls who wear size 0 to 4. The word “cute” comes to mind.
  6. You’ll be giving a real break to your back and feet.
  7. Your friends will be jealous.
  8. More fun...your enemies will be jealous...especially at that office party or school reunion.
  9. Men who never looked at you before will look at you.
  10. You’ll have energy for new things from dancing to sports.
  11. Your real, original beauty will get a chance to shine through, and you might even live longer, sleep better, develop new food tastes and enjoy life more.

* All books offered for sale have a cover price, all art work sells by bid because a painting is only worth what someone will pay for it. All artwork includes a surcharge for insurance, and safe delivery, and framing if desired.

As a rule I do not work for other people. If I accept a job the fee is $200 per hour, plus all expenses. Deposits and contracts are required. I reserve the right to refuse any job because of content or intent, for lack of time or because I feel someone else can do a better job.
